LECTURE 1
Topic: “WELL-KNOWN TRADEMARKS: THE EFFECT OF INNOVATION”
- the EXECOM core lecture with participation of famous panelists Drs. Jose Luis Medina del Corral and Jose Victor Rodríguez Caro, in fashion better known under the well known trade mark Victorio & Lucchino.

VICTORIO & LUCCHINO
Duo known in fashion as Victorio& Lucchino talked about their hard beginnings. They also depicted their fairy-tale-like story of two young entrepreneurs who started their business from zero, and became a huge success.
Both Jose Luis Medina del Corral (aka Lucchino) and Jose Victor Rodríguez Caro (aka Victorio) emphasized the value of an innovative strong trademark as a business success component, and also the need of having fighting spirit as well as the need of being extremely hardworking. They both admited that they are basically unable to differentiate between work and free time. In other words: they work while having rest. One of their most famous part of clothing was designed while eating snails at a restaurant.

As far as their beginnings are concerned, they initiated mail-order store at first, which was not the greatest idea, as they realized later on. Their parcels were coming back unopened... Therefore, they rented a boutique in Spain. To their surprise, people were coming, and seemed to be impressed by duo’s innovative clothing. They also gained a huge publicity via press. Since then they visited many countries and their brand gradually become known world-wide. They started to expand.

They managed to succeed also overseas. Their exhibition in New York was extremely successful. They also aroused attention with their typically Spanish cookies coming from the specific region they both like, and with a typically Spanish liqueur. People were queuing to see their suits and clothing, and to taste their treats.

Jose Luis Medina del Corral and Jose Victor Rodríguez Caro also talked about a period of time when they lost their brand and were trying to get it back... When talking about this negative phase of their business, they both emphasized the need of multiplicity. Not only they have to be creative and innovative, but they also need to get into other fields so that they could understand what is going on and nobody could actually take advantage of them with ease.

Number one on their item list is still clothing, but there are also various perfumes under the brand of Victorio& Lucchino, they also design homes and hotel rooms etc.

Why “Victorio& Lucchino“? Name of their brand consists of two names. Victorio is derived from the name of one of the brand owners – Jose Victor Rodríguez Caro. Lucchino was chosen because the two owners thought that it sounded a little Chinese, which was their first intention.
